My Proven SEO Techniques for Making Money Online
59Are you trying to earn money online? And are you constantly looking at what SEO techniques you need to use for successful website promotion? Making money online is exciting but never easy, so we are all anxious about what is good and what is not so good when optimizing our websites and web pages.
Also, many online marketers are worried about recent changes in search engine algorithms, particularly those of Google. Do the old SEO techniques still apply, or should we be using new ones?
I thought that a review of proven SEO techniques would be useful, based on my own successful experience with online sales over the past few years and taking account of these recent developments.
Be Careful To Feed The Robots
With the explosion in websites and the unwelcome amount of spamming now impacting heavily on our use of the Internet, both for business and enjoyment, the search engines are trying to restore the level of quality that we used to experience online. This means there is now a greater need for quality content for all our web pages, which is no bad thing.
But have SEO techniques needed to change as a result?
The short answer is No , with some qualifications. You still need a web page written around one main keyword, and this should be in the title, first paragraph and subheadings. Your links and anchor text still need to show exactly what the page is about. Alternate text is still worth providing for images, banners and other inserted media.
All this is, of course, for the benefit of the search engine robots, so that they will fully grasp the content of your web pages and ensure that you get proper ranking recognition. These are proven SEO techniques which still work. In fact, if badly done, you will not be earning money online as much as perhaps you did before .
These techniques are sometimes known as White Hat SEO . Search engines like them. On the other hand, avoid Black Hat SEO like the plague if you want to continue to earn money online and not get banned by Google and the others. Black Hat includes keyword stuffing, hidden text, disguised links, link farms, spamming and the like. The search engines are smart enough now to find these and will punish you severely. Don’t try this type of SEO unless you can afford to have your website shut down.
Quality Always Quality
So far these SEO techniques have been about the search engine robots. The other on-page SEO requirement is content quality, the need to make the web page interesting and useful for the reader. Poorly written and researched articles will be pushed down the rankings much more than before. Traffic will suffer and your sales will plummet. Not good.
Your text must flow naturally and read easily. Videos, photos, illustrations and audio are needed to break up the text and add interest. Avoid duplicate content and invest time in making each page unique and worthwhile for the visitor. This is perhaps where recent search engine emphasis is most noticeable. Good content is being rewarded with good ranking. The bad websites are being weeded out.
To sum up, then. If you continue to follow the tried and tested SEO techniques, invest time and effort in providing useful content and avoid the lazy “website on autopilot” approach, you will be rewarded with growing sales and the intense satisfaction that earning money online brings to our Internet business.
The proven SEO techniques of the past are still working just as well today.
Reference Books
I find that I need a reality check from time to time, to ensure that I am still sticking to tried and tested formulas. Sometimes familiarity breeds contempt, and I discover I have strayed from the right path somewhat. This is when I turn to a couple of trusted books on SEO that provide the redirection required.
A few good reference books should be at your elbow, for those times when you feel you need either confirmation that you are doing the right thing, or a reminder of some things that you might have forgotten. Every time I scan through one of these books I find something new, interesting or instructive.
Every online marketer should have a good set of reference books. Here are a couple that I can thoroughly recommend.
